      • Guided a collaborative strategic planning process including: revision of agency’s mission, vision, and core values; review of best practices; identification of critical issues; and development of long range goals.
      • Worked with the Board of Directors to become a more effective governing body by:
        - streamlining committee structure
        - articulating written Board member performance expectations
        - revising by-laws
        - developing a Delegation of Authority policy
        - recruiting new qualified Board members with non-profit management and programmatic expertise

    • Direct and coordinate formulation of budget to provide funding for new or continuing program operations.
      • Kept the agency solvent during an unprecedented State payment delay crisis.
      • Saved the agency $100,000 in one year by trimming operational costs.
      • Raised over $135,000 in new revenue by cultivating five new major donors.
      • Confer with Directors to formulate annual United Way allocation request; Conduct site visit tour and deliver presentation to garner to $200,000 annually.
      • Restructured agency’s internal United Way employee campaign to better incentivize employees to contribute, resulting in 93% participation rate and a 75% increase over the goal of $7,500 amounting to a total $13,161.20, which, in turn, prompted the United Way to increase its annual allocation to the agency by about $10,000 to a total of $209,910 for 2011.

    • Manage seven direct reports to plan business and service objectives, develop policies, and coordinate operations.
      • Led staff through a triennial accreditation survey by CARF (Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) resulting in a successful three year reaccreditation of agency’s programs.

    • Research and develop potential opportunities for expansion of agency services.
      • Drove the creation of a new client-operated curbside recycling enterprise by securing a $50,000 grant.

    • Review operating results, compare outcomes established objectives, and correct unsatisfactory results.
      • Instituted balanced scorecard strategic planning and management system to align business activities to agency’s vision and strategy, and monitor organization performance against strategic goals.

    • Liaise with all government and other funding and referral sources, consumers, families, and staff maintaining positive relationships and favorable perceptions of the agency.
      • Increased public awareness of the agency’s services through soliciting local, state and national media, attention, including a front page "Wall Street Journal" article.
      • Initiated face-to-face meetings with state and federal legislators; mobilized staff and family letter writing campaign to fight off looming, drastic state budget cuts, and timely payment; resulting in the passage of Prompt Payment Act 96-0802, which provides for a 2 percent interest penalty for payments that are more than 60 days late.
      • Formed a new guardian support group to provide learning opportunities on critical care issues.

    • Oversee interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
      • Directed and collaborated with staff on revision of agency personnel manual, performance appraisal system, wage and benefit structure and establishment of compensation philosophy.
